The Mills-Peninsula Hospital is the first in Northern California with a base-isolation structural system. This is part of a five-phase project that includes an acute care hospital, central plant, medical office building, parking garage, and surface parking and roadway areas. Treadwell & Rollo performed a geologic hazard evaluation and geotechnical investigation, developed earthquake design criteria and time histories for the structural design, and provided design-phase consultation. Currently, we are providing geotechnical services during construction.
Our environmental work included collecting and evaluating soil samples for a site characterization to assess hazardous materials that would be disturbed or removed during construction, which assisted in management of excavated soil. Concentrations of chemical compounds in the samples were compared to state and federal criteria for hazardous waste.
