The engineering profession should be viewed as providing value and sound solutions to project challenges.

With a personal belief in "fairness and integrity," Ramin is drawn to solving problems. He feels it is important to convey to clients the "tremendous responsibility" inherent in the geotechnical engineer's professional contribution to a project, namely that  "the structure stands up."

Ramin, who directs Treadwell & Rollo's earthquake engineering practice, has developed seismic and geotechnical design criteria for hospitals, industrial, residential and office buildings. Other projects range from bridges, elevated freeways and viaducts to tunnels, and seismic strengthening of existing structures.

He was a member of the Structural Engineers Association Northern California Committee responsible for Seismic Code revisions and a member of a Blue Ribbon Panel providing guidance to the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection with regard to seismic design.
